About our classes

Our classes are small so that teachers are able to work with students individually as well as within the group. We offer four levels of instruction as well as classes designed for specific groups.
You are welcome to join classes in progress at any time, space permitting.

Class Descriptions

Introduction to Yoga

Learn the fundamentals of yoga in this one hour class designed specifically for those completely new to yoga. Find ways to breathe and move with more ease. Gain strength and mobility in the body, clarity and calm for the mind.

Beginner
Focus is on breathing and moving with awareness through specific warm-ups to open the body in preparation for the yoga poses being taught. Benefits of poses and modifications for different abilities will be offered by your teachers. Each class ends with a guided relaxation practice.

Yoga & Meditation


An all levels yoga class that includes warm-ups, yoga poses, breathing practices, and relaxation, as well as introducing various meditation techniques. For those with a specific interest in opening the body and calming the mind. 
Adding meditation to a yoga practice can increase awareness, insight, and enhance the exploratory nature of yoga. All levels welcome.

 

 

 

 

Continuing
Students have completed at least one beginner session of yoga or are returning to yoga after an absence. Students will be encouraged to deepen their own body awareness, while new variations of poses are introduced.

Intermediate
Students are familiar with basic yoga postures, breathing techniques and are developing a home practice. More advanced poses breathing techniques are introduced. Teachers may offer home practices for the class and/or for individual students.

Going Deeper
A guided enquiry into more subtle aspects of yoga asanas, pranayama, mantras, and mudras.

 

All Levels
This mixed-level class allows individuals to work at their own level in the yoga poses being led. Some yoga experience is recommended but not essential.

Sunrise Yoga
Celebrate the new day in the stillness of the morning. This is an all-levels class focussed on envigorating and opening body, mind and spirit.

Vinyasa  Flow                                                                                                                        Finding steadiness and ease through a continuous flow of postures.For students willing to be challenged and who have a basic understanding of alignment in the foundational poses.

Salutations
Greet the new day with a stronger practice of breath and movement. This mixed-level class is recommended for those with some yoga experience and a more athletic lifestyle.


Yoga for Better Bones A class specifically designed for those with low bone density or osteoporosis. Emphasis will be placed on improving posture, strength and weight-bearing through vulnerable areas.

 

Posture Class                                                                               These hour long classes offer an opporunity to build strength and stability in the body by finding the body's inner support systems and releasing external holding patterns. Find more freedom and ease standing, sitting, and moving.

 

Yoga for Depression

 Create a healthier mind and body with breathing exercises, meditation, asana, and self-inquiry. Mindfulness of the body, thoughts, and feelings will foster positive self-care and improve quality of life.

 

 Gentle Yoga
Attention to slow, relaxing movement for those who have health concerns or a quieter lifestyle. These classes focus more on opening movements and breath work. Students receive variations of yoga poses to allow the body to move more comfortably.

 

Yoga Over 50
For those who feel older than they would like to. Younger students welcome (ID not required!)

 

Teen Yoga

 

Aside from the physical aspects of yoga, teens will learn techniques to manage stress and develop a stronger and more confident sense of self. Lori Henein is a former high school teacher and parent educator. Class runs from 4:30-5:30pm Thursdays.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pre-natal Yoga- Mon. 5:45-7:15pm
This 90 minute class will help prepare the expectant woman for pregnancy, childbirth and new parenthood both physically and emotionally. The focus is on breath work, yoga poses specifically chosen to relieve physiological changes, and relaxation and meditation to assist during labour.  A half hour discussion including guest presenters on topics related to pregnancy and childbirth is included. 

Pre-natal Yoga- Thurs. 7:30-8:30pm

Looking to stay energized, strong & balanced through your pregnancy? This class integrates breathing techniques and strengthening yoga  poses to restore your energy levels and support your growing belly  through all three trimesters.  Each session will end with a quiet  meditation to help relax & focus the mind.  Especially recommended  for those who were active before pregnancy.

 

Yoga Babies

A playful class for mom and her new baby to help rejuvenate and tone post pregnancy body while connecting with your little one. Focus is on baby movement, stretching, breathing, and relaxing your body, followed by a half -hour discussion including guest speakers on topics relevant to motherhood. You will have a chance to share with other moms, while your baby is stimulated physically, emotionally and socially. This class is for moms who have healed after delivery and for babes who are not yet very mobile. Toddler siblings are welcome. Registration is recommended as space is limited.
